It is still completely unclear why the 22-year-old lost control of his car on Katschbergstrasse early in the morning and drove off the right side of the road. However, one thing is certain: the car hit the diagonal guardrail, which eventually caused the car to tip sideways and slide about 80 meters along the road.

The driver from the Spittal an der Drau district managed to free herself from the wrecked car despite her injuries – and was later taken to hospital by the rescue team. The men of the Eisentratten volunteer fire brigade took over the recovery of the vehicle.

The fire brigade also had to respond almost simultaneously to a serious traffic accident on the southern motorway on Tuesday morning, shortly after the Villach junction. A violent collision between a car and a truck is said to have occurred in the direction of Klagenfurt for unknown reasons.

“After our technical platoon arrived, together with the FF Wernberg, it was recognized that a vehicle was damaged, was in the fast lane and that a person was trapped in the vehicle,” said fire chief Stefan Regenfelder, platoon leader of the Villach main fire. station. Emergency services then completely removed the driver’s and passenger’s doors and freed the woman from the wreckage. The driver was taken to the regional hospital in Villach with injuries of unknown nature.
