For reasons that are still unclear, an 86-year-old local man died in the Maiskogel area in Kaprun. The man had been missing since Tuesday afternoon and was found dead alone.
Relatives initially went looking for the victim themselves, but they were unsuccessful. The mountain rescue service was then informed early in the evening.
Cause of death still unclear
The Kaprun Mountain Rescue Service, the Kaprun Fire Department, the Alpine Police, a police helicopter and three police drones then searched for the missing person. Nearly two hours later he was found dead at an altitude of 1,600 meters. The reasons for the man’s death are still unclear.
