The French President, Emmanuel Macronthanked his American counterpart, Joe Biden“the respect and loyalty” shown towards European allies because of “the willingness to seek agreements, including those that are more complex.”
“I thank you for being the president of the first world power to show respect for Europeans,” Macron emphasized at the Elysee Palace, during a statement to the press without questions after the working lunch between the two leaders.
The two heads of state made efforts to establish clear harmony ‘with a common roadmap’ conflicts in Ukraine and Gazaand also about the trade differences with China.
And so they have the diplomatic conflict between both nations in 2021when the US intervened to secure a multimillion-dollar nuclear submarine contract with Australia, breaking an earlier contract with France.
Biden, who in a few months is contesting his re-election with Republican Donald Trump – a leader criticized in Europe for his isolationist tendencies during his 2017-2021 mandate – has focused on the fight in Ukraine against Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

At the end of the performance, the two leaders took part in a French-American business meeting before concluding the day with a gala dinner.
Biden and his wife Jill kicked off the first part of their state visit to France – the American’s first in his nearly four years as president – with a ceremony at the iconic Arc de Triomphe where they were received by Macron and his wife Brigitte.
During the Macron and Biden event They lit the flame dedicated to the “unknown soldier”that pays tribute to the French soldiers who died during the First World War (1914-1918).
Although the bilateral events with France started this Saturday, the American leader had landed in the European country last Wednesday, June 5, to participate in the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings who contributed decisively to the fall of Nazi Germany in World War II.
Biden will conclude his trip to France this Sunday laying a wreath at the cemetery of Aisne-Marne (northeast), which contains the graves of almost 2,300 soldiers from his country who died during the First World War.
