“Thanks to unknown people” – Unexpected help: woman from Styria saved from storm

Date:

A couple from Southern Styria would like to thank an unknown driver. Last Monday the woman helped a pensioner who was surprised by a storm while walking with her walker. “That was so much fun!”

“I go for a walk every day,” Gerlinde Dexelmann said in an interview with “Steirekrone” on Wednesday. The sympathetic elderly woman lives with her husband Robert and a fluffy Bernese Mountain Dog in the South Styrian community of Straß. When she was on her rounds again last Monday around lunchtime, it unexpectedly started to rain near the barracks.

Her husband estimates that it would have taken the pensioner at least half an hour to get home. Not to mention the great dangers of the storm. She could have slipped, fallen and seriously injured herself.

“That was so fun and surprising”
But then the unexpected help: “Suddenly a woman pulled up next to me in the car and asked: ‘Can I give you a lift?’ She grabbed me with the walker and led me to the front door. That was so fun and surprising – I was completely blown away!” says Mrs. Dexelmann, still happy days later.

Her husband turned to the “Krone” because the couple wanted to thank the unknown SUV driver from the bottom of their hearts. “With a walker in the pouring rain, that could have been dangerous,” says the Styrian, happy that nothing happened to his wife. “You still see good solidarity in times of need. It was so spontaneous and without obligation. Just beautiful.”
