In Spittal an der Drau, a motorcyclist overtook several cars on Friday and overlooked an oncoming vehicle, causing a head-on collision. The cyclist suffered serious injuries.
St. Veiter, 20, was riding his motorcycle on Amlacher Weg in Spittal at around 3.25pm on Friday when he overtook at least two cars in front of him at the end of the town, according to police. The motorcyclist overlooked an oncoming vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old from Spittal, and collided head-on with the car.
Thrown meters through the air
“As a result of the collision, the motorcycle’s steering wheel flew several meters through the air and landed behind the car,” police said. The 20-year-old was taken to Spittal Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and sought medical treatment himself. Both cars were totaled.
