In the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a group of young people attacked two girls (eight and ten years old). The younger victim required hospital treatment. The attack on the children could have been racially motivated; they come from Ghana.
According to initial findings, the incident took place on Friday evening around 7:30 PM in Grevesmühlen (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). According to information from “Bild”, the two sisters met a gang of about twenty young people in a courtyard. First they insulted the girls, then they became violent.
The up to eight attackers are said to have kicked the eight-year-old in the face, among other things, injuring her. When the children’s father rushed forward, he was also attacked by the youths. The girl and he had to be taken to a hospital.
The police stopped the attacks
The alerted police were finally able to stop the attacks. She has identified personal details, including possible suspects, and is now looking for witnesses to the incident. Because the victims were insulted in a xenophobic manner when they left, the officers currently assume a racist motive. Investigations are underway for disturbing the peace, serious bodily harm, sedition and insult.
The young gang was reportedly spotted on Friday afternoon. According to media reports, the members rioted drunkenly in the market square and were expelled from the square.

Minister of the Interior: ‘You don’t attack children’
“You don’t attack people, especially children, and certainly not for racist reasons,” said Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Interior Minister Christian Pegel (SPD), condemning the incident. “The injured girl is eight years old – as young as my daughter. We must not allow hatred and agitation to poison our society and violence to threaten our children,” Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) wrote on Platform X.
