In the Tyrolean Oberland, emergency services had to respond to four motorcycle accidents on Saturday. The rain-soaked road surface was usually the cause of the accidents. Three men and a woman were taken to Zams district hospital.
The first accident happened on Saturday around 12.30 pm in Pfunds, when a Dutchman (64) slipped in a bend on the B180 Reschenstrasse. His motorcycle hit the guardrail and was then thrown back onto the road, seriously injuring the 64-year-old.
Germans skidded on wet roads
Two hours later an accident occurred nearby, this time on Martinsbruckerstrasse (B185) in Nauders. There, a German motorcyclist (60) from Upper Franconia slipped, fell and injured himself so badly that he had to be flown to Zams hospital by emergency helicopter.
Almost at the same time, a German citizen of the same age was injured in Stams in the Imst district when his motorcycle skidded on a roundabout and crashed into a traffic sign.
A French woman was thrown off the dike
The last accident took place around 4.20 pm in See (Landeck district). There, a 60-year-old motorcyclist crossed the opposite lane in a right bend and crashed into a guardrail. The French woman was thrown from her bicycle and then fell about three meters down a steep embankment, where she was left injured on impassable terrain. Like the other three accident victims, she was also taken to Zams Hospital after initial treatment.
