A 42-year-old Albanian truck driver drove from southern Italy to the Netherlands and back with two driver cards and repeatedly failed to adhere to driving and rest times.
Because the truck of the Albanian (42) activated the height control for the Lermooser tunnel on Saturday, the tunnel was set to “red”. A traffic jam formed in front of the north portal. Of course, the red light did not stop the driver from driving past the standing column and then even through the tunnel.
Police officers were amazed
When the 42-year-old stopped at the nearest car park, he was checked by a patrol from Nassereith police station. The officials were astounded: it turned out that he used someone else’s driver card and had driven from southern Italy to the Netherlands and back with two driver cards.
Further travel is prohibited.
He has repeatedly committed serious violations of driving and rest times. The police banned the driver from driving and collected a bail amount. Reports to the Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office and the BH will follow.
