Abroad – Viennese drug dealer is on most wanted list

Date:

For years, the former red light district Martin Schabel founded an unprecedented drug gang. Now the fugitive, together with Tibor Foco, has ended up on the list of Austria’s most wanted criminals.

As a “drug general” he is said to have delivered the red light scene on the Wiener Belt – after a short hiatus, Martin Schabel, who had 14 previous convictions, went back into the drug trade. And this on an unprecedented scale for Austria. With eight accomplices, the 50-year-old ran the professional online drug store “MrBlow” from 2018 to 2020. He sold at least 60 kilograms of various “poisons” (including 40 kg of cocaine) and earned an estimated five million euros. The goods were delivered by post – packed and sent by an old friend, an ex-prostitute (see photo).

Front companies to supply medicines
Martin Schabel left nothing to chance and always stayed in the background. So he created dummy companies from scratch, organizing packaging materials and processing drug deliveries. The subjects were not allowed to make mistakes – a popular quote from the gang boss: “Otherwise you go for a walk in your suitcase.”

Escape to Italy and Spain
Nevertheless, the top investigators of the Federal Criminal Police, together with their Styrian colleagues, managed to break through the ring. While the accomplices went into the net, the armed Martin Schabel managed to escape in time. First in the Italian seaside town of Lignano, from where he is said to have piled up to Spain. From there the track is lost.

Now the Viennese, along with the long-term fugitive Tibor Foco, is one of the two most wanted criminals in Austria. Federal Bureau of Investigation Anti-drug boss Daniel Lichtenegger: “Beware – the man is dangerous and has nothing to lose. If you see him, notify the police immediately!”
