The case caused a stir last September! The esoteric Gabriela M., who posed as an ‘angel’ with healing powers, was arrested in Zell am Moos. On Wednesday, her two children appeared before the regional court in Wels. Even after their mother’s suicide, they were both still deeply in her shadow.
Gabriela M., who claimed to be a mediator between heaven and earth with healing powers, was arrested in Zell am Moos in September. In addition to serious commercial fraud, which was charged by the Public Prosecution Service for Economic Affairs and Corruption, she was also accused of extortion, embezzlement and false imprisonment.
The esoteric and her son (37) had actually been reported in 2007 for selling healing stones and ‘soul images’ in their former shop in Attnang-Puchheim. But for years nothing happened.
Siblings very quiet
On Wednesday, the children of the esoteric had to answer before a jury of the Welsh regional court: the siblings Stefan (38) and Corinna M. (31). Stefan M. is said to have played a key role as a contributor to serious commercial donation fraud and deprivation of liberty. His sister, Corinna M., is said to have only helped collect donations.
They were both silent, saying nothing except the confession, and looked into the room in silence. Almost as if their mother’s presence still hovered menacingly above them. Only Corinna M. concluded in a low voice: “It feels like we’ve never had a life. Only when this curse was broken from without did we begin to live.”
“Very manipulative woman”
Gabriela M. saw herself as a medium who first sold gemstones, photographs and then treatments that would heal her clients through the power of their heavenly connection. According to the chief prosecutor of the WKSta, Gabriela M. was anything but an angel: “A seriously manipulative woman with a huge narcissistic personality disorder. “What is commonly called a psychopath,” the lawyer said.
Six figures in debt
Coincidentally, one fateful day, this woman met her exact counterpart: Mrs. M., then a young woman, fresh out of medical school, with not only a strong tendency towards esotericism, but also with strong sadistic tendencies and a tendency towards self-mockery. Within a very short time, she was completely dependent on her domineering mother, spending enormous sums of money on her ‘services’ and racking up six-figure debts.
Eventually she even moved to her parents’ house. However, she was only allowed to stay on the ground floor; the upper floors were reserved for the ‘higher souls’, the mother and her two children. After the victim had a child with Stefan M., all her money was gone and she was worthless to the family.
Victim manipulated
Therefore, a plan was made: the victim was manipulated to such an extent that it appeared to the treating doctors as if she was at risk of committing suicide. But that’s not all: Gabriela M., who controls everything, ordered the young woman to make threats against her family and her own child. Last but not least, she was even believed to attack the staff of the mental institution, which led to her being sent to an institution for mentally abnormal criminals, now a forensic therapeutic center, after a trial.
Six million euros defrauded
The esoteric finally knew how to turn these “threats” against herself and her family into urgently needed money: first, with the help of a victim protection organization, she set up a donation account for the “in danger” family, and then forged further requests for donations. In doing so, she stole staggering amounts of money: six million euros were collected from an industrial heiress whom she had been ‘handling’ alone for a long time.
Four and a half years in prison
The senior prosecutor emphasized that it was particularly aggravating: “The use of the judiciary, police officers, judges and prosecutors as a weapon is catastrophic and must be punished accordingly!” chained to the bed by her limbs and stomach. The woman was also treated with strong psychotropic medications, the side effects and damage of which she suffers today.
In 2024 – when she was eleven – she was able to see her child accompanied for the first time. There is now weekly consultation between mother and son. However, normality is unlikely to return to their lives for a long time, if at all.
The punishment was quite light
After brief consultation, the sentences were finally handed down: 24 months for the first defendant Stefan M., four of which were unconditional. His sister served 14 months, which were completely suspended. With a possible sentence of one to ten years, the penalties are quite mild and only partially legally binding.
