As Juan Munoz pulled into his employer’s parking lot in northwest Dallas, Texas, early Saturday morning, he was stopped by a patrol car. Police noticed that the windshield of his car was cracked and had a large hole in it. And not only that. In the passenger seat, the officers saw a horrific sight: they were looking at a severed human arm in a pool of blood.
According to the police report, Munoz had come from the bar of the restaurant chain ‘Hooters’ and was still driving his white BMW. According to a later alcohol test, he had just under 1.8 per mille in his blood. The TV station “Fox4 Dallas” reports that Munoz, on his way home, without braking, hit a pedestrian, whose arm was torn off by the force of the impact. Instead of stopping, Munoz crashed.
Police: ‘More remains of human body in car’
When the police ordered the 31-year-old, who had two previous convictions for drink driving, out of the car, he almost fell over: “He had watery eyes, was guzzling and smelled strongly of alcohol. He also admitted that he had also used cocaine.” The entire right side of the BMW and the window were covered in blood spatter and “in addition to the arm, there were other pieces of human body in the car.”
Alkolenker blames fatalities
Munoz was arrested for driving under the influence causing death and is charged with manslaughter, among other charges. He is in custody until the start of the trial in Dallas because he cannot pay the $135,000 bail. The identity of his victim has not yet been released by authorities. During the police interview, Munoz allegedly claimed that his victim “jumped out from behind a bush and ran onto the road” as he passed the I-35E freeway. The reason he didn’t stop was because “I was in shock.”
