On Thursday morning the walls in the Landeck region (Tyrol) were shaking. A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 was measured there. No one is believed to have been injured, and damage to buildings is also rare at this level.
According to the Austrian earthquake service Geosphere Austria, an earthquake occurred around 11:14 a.m. about five kilometers east of Landeck. This was felt with a magnitude of 2.6. “The earthquake was somewhat felt by a few people. No damage to buildings is known and is not expected at this level,” says seismologist Fee-Alexandra Rodler.
The earthquake agency is asking the public for feedback. Anyone who felt the earthquake can report this in the web form.
Earthquake wave in January
At the beginning of this year there was already a real series of earthquakes in Tyrol. At that time, the Kitzbühel district and the Tyrolean lowlands were affected. Within a few days, 60 measurable earthquakes were recorded there.
