“The Crown helps” – Storm victim asks for donations for others

Date:

Although new severe weather threats are already looming in Austria, the consequences of previous threats are still having an impact – and possibly for a long time. A hard-hit person asks for donations – not for themselves, but for others: “The costs could ruin you!”

In 2009, the slope slid into the outbuildings of a Styrian farm for the first time. The consequences were dramatic: despite their weight, the machines lay mixed up in the mud that was meters high on the threshing floor. “It took us more than a month to get everything back in order, it was an incredible amount of work,” says the owner, who wishes to remain anonymous. The damage: “At 100,000 euros!” insurance pays “only a fraction”.

“What a nightmare.”
And now – the same gruesome image! The residents were not there at the time, neighbors sent photos, “then you get a blow, you can’t believe it.” Once more. What a nightmare.”

Another one with long-lasting consequences. “The mud in the stable building was up to three meters high, silos had fallen over, pillars were broken, the building was damaged. “Since then, I have been standing on the threshing floor dragging out the heavy mud,” says the senior, whose exhaustion is clearly visible.

High cost
“I had to take out all the machines and tools and even clean the beehives completely. Everything is full of dirt or completely broken.” This time the slope has been completely emptied, excavators and work equipment are in use and drainage and a retaining wall also need to be built. The only good thing: the house was spared. The costs, however: again terrible.

Every cent goes to those affected
The person concerned emphatically emphasizes that he is not asking for donations! So not for yourself – but for others: “I now know how much clean-up work costs, replacing broken machines or equipment. Apart from the psychological component, this can bring people to the brink of destruction. Or even about it…’ He himself would make it happen one way or another, ‘God willing.’

In many cases he would also like to receive help from the authorities more quickly. “For example, I have not received one yet, despite reporting the damage in a timely manner. Support with the bureaucracy would be extremely important if you have your hands full cleaning up.”
