On Thursday evening, a violent argument took place between several men on Reumannplatz in Vienna. The patrol officers had previously been informed of loud shouting.
The officers saw a 26-year-old man with traces of blood on his neck and hand. According to his own statements, he sustained the injuries while playing football. Shortly afterwards, the patrol officers continued their duty and the men disappeared towards the metro station.
More shouting in the subway station
Suddenly the officers heard loud screams again. This time from the Reumannplatz metro station. When officers burst into the station, they encountered the 26-year-old again and a second young man (24).
No trace of the murder weapon
During the course of the investigation, it emerged that the two had already attacked each other in the park and that the 26-year-old allegedly attacked the opponent with what the police said was a sharp object and slightly injured him. Police were unable to obtain a murder weapon from the 26-year-old. He was temporarily arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
