The Facebook page of the Christmas house in Bad Tatzmannsdorf (Burgenland), which is exclusively for charity, is currently being misused for sexual purposes.
Since 2010, Sabine Gollnhuber has transformed her estate in Bad Tatzmannsdorf into a ‘Christmas house’ every December: more than 900,000 lights flash and enchant visitors who leave a free donation for charity purposes. The 57-year-old is only left with an electricity bill of more than 2,000 euros.
Double bad luck for Burgenlander
Recently the Burgenlander had double bad luck. The flood caused the basement, where the festive utensils were stored, to be flooded. “We won’t know what went wrong until the fall.” And: the Christmas house’s Facebook account was hacked. Unknown individuals gained access in May and have since used the Christmas platform to advertise sexual content. “We have 10,000 followers,” says Gollnhuber. “I sit there every night and write to them that we have nothing to do with this. And I remove new users that I later no longer want on my site.”
Naturally, she tried to defend herself against the cyber attack: “I spoke to judges. No one can help me.” Questions on Facebook also yielded no results. It simply said: “We have reviewed this site and determined that it does not violate our community standards.”
