The shock in Bischofshofen is deep: after a brutal attack and artificial deep sleep, the seriously injured 21-year-old Kosovar has now regained consciousness and is on the road to recovery. The police investigation is in full swing. Images from the surveillance cameras at the train station are being evaluated.
The shock was great in Bischofshofen on Monday evening. A group of young migrants confronted, attacked and robbed a trio at the community’s train station. A 21-year-old Kosovar suffered such serious head injuries from punches and kicks that he had to be put into an artificial deep sleep. According to information from the University Hospital of Salzburg, the man has already woken up from his coma, is responsive and on the road to recovery.
Victims are literally hunted by perpetrators
There is currently no information about the perpetrators or motives. The Salzburg police are withholding this for “tactical investigation reasons”. According to information from “Krone”, it was probably not a spontaneous attack, but the subsequent victims were actually hunted by the perpetrators. But the police will neither confirm nor deny this.
Video surveillance at the ÖBB train station is likely to play a central role in the investigation. “The video recording from Bischofshofen train station was requested by the police and sent on Monday,” said Robert Mosser of ÖBB in response to a “Krone” request. Arrests are therefore probably only a matter of time. A safety summit must take place between ÖBB, the city and the state as soon as possible.
