A heinous crime will soon be the subject of the Vienna Regional Court. Vienna’s public prosecutor’s office confirmed to the Crown that it has filed charges against the 28-year-old Algerian who allegedly assaulted, robbed and raped a 92-year-old woman in a retirement home in Vienna-Wieden. 11 October.
The indictment, which is not legally binding, accuses the homeless man, who posed as a 23-year-old under an alias, of rape, aggravated robbery, deprivation of liberty, damage to property and commercial theft, among other crimes.
Victim locked up and tap turned on
First, the asylum seeker, armed with a kitchen knife, allegedly took his victim’s rings and watch, then the rape took place. According to the fourteen-page indictment, he then locked the disabled woman, who has since died, in her apartment and turned the bathroom tap on full.
A trial date has not yet been set. However, this will not concern housing in a forensic therapeutic center. According to the report, the alleged perpetrator was mentally healthy. Serious mental illness was not confirmed.
