Bolivian President Luis Arce criticized minutes of “irregular mobilizations” of the army in the city of La Paz.
Several tanks and heavily armed soldiers occupied the square in front of the headquarters of the Bolivian executive power on Wednesday, after the army’s commander-in-chief, Juan José Zúñigathreatened to take over the building.

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS)Luis Almagro has stated from Paraguay that the organization will not tolerate “any form of violation of the legitimate constitutional order in Bolivia.”
“The General Secretariat of the OAS condemns in the strongest way these actions of the Bolivian army; it must submit to civil authority as prescribed by the Inter-American Democratic Charter,” Almagro said.
The Representative of Bolivia to the Organization of American States (OAS), Hector Arcewarned the international community hours earlier of an “emergency situation” in his country following the invasion of military forces in front of the government headquarters in La Paz and asked that this fact be treated “with due responsibility and seriousness.”
The former president of Bolivia Evo Morales (2006-2019) has also said that a ‘coup’ is coming. Morales has called for a “national mobilization to defend democracy.”
The president pro tempore of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and President of Honduras Xiomara Castro has convened an “urgent” meeting of the leaders of the countries of the regional organization in light of the impending “coup” in Bolivia.
