First there were letters with obscene content on the wall. Sanitary towels were then added and the toilets were blocked. Children in the nearby playground and women in particular did not dare to use a public toilet: the fear of new actions by the ‘toilet phantom’ from Pressbaum (Lower Austria) was too great. Now the police have discovered him.
Municipal officials in Pressbaum monitored the public toilet for a long time and were able to identify a man, but the soup was too thin to file charges. Ultimately, the alleged perpetrator used flour, which clogged the drains – later allegedly even putting a rubber mat in a toilet.
Suspected perpetrator kept leaving new ‘surprises’ behind
One “joke” too many: this constituted a crime of material damage. The facility had to be cleaned by companies at great expense, and due to the “spicy” crime scene, the St. Pölten state police were eventually assigned to clear up the case.
Children avoided the terrible place, women were afraid
The case was particularly unpleasant because the public toilet just behind the town hall is often used by up to 70 children in the afternoon care. Directly next to it is a large park and the kindergarten’s playground. As the number of incidents increased, parents expressed great concern as the letters and objects found caused uncertainty and fear of other, potentially more serious, incidents among the population.
Detectives caught the sample and charges have been filed
With technical tools they could ultimately track down and convict the suspected perpetrator. The case is already with the Public Prosecution Service, which also confirmed this to the “Krone”: The investigations have not yet been completed, as the incidents date back to last autumn.
