Loud cries for help echoed through the Nord camping pool at Lake Klopeiner See in Carinthia on Saturday: a 19-year-old boy was in danger of drowning. Fortunately, not only water rescuers helped, but also other swimmers.
The young man went swimming around noon when he needed help, shortly after diving into the cool water, eyewitnesses said. “Despite the high temperatures and calm water conditions, he suddenly got into trouble,” the Klopein water rescue center describes the incident.
The 19-year-old suffered convulsions
He screamed for help! And it wasn’t just water rescuers who immediately came to the rescue: “Fortunately for the young man, brave swimmers were able to keep him afloat,” civil courage is praised. The 19-year-old was unable to keep himself afloat due to cramps, but by then water rescuers had already reached the man in distress.
Saving lives
When he was brought back to the jetty, he was immediately treated by a doctor who happened to be there: “He helped to stabilize the injured person,” the water rescue team continues. “We wish the holiday guest that he or she may leave the hospital again after a short recovery period!”
