The French far-right party National Rally (RN) has won the first round of the parliamentary elections, reaching 33.15% of the vote together with its allies from the Union of the Extreme Right (UXD) historic result in Franceaccording to official data made public on Monday by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
The possibility remains open that RN candidate Jordan Bardella will be sworn in as Prime Minister if he wins an absolute majority in the second round on July 7.
The left-wing coalition New Popular Front (NFP) came in second with 27.99%, ahead of the outgoing majority of the president, Emmanuel Macron, who is the big loser of the elections with 20.04% and has fallen to third place failed, with 20% of the votes. Both blocs have called for joining forces and withdrawing their candidates in cases where they have come third and RN is in first place.
The day was marked by high participation, 67.5%, 20 points higher than that of the first round of the 2022 parliamentary elections (47.51%).
Possible absolute majority in the second round
The projection suggests that the group led by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella could win between 260 and 310 seats, implying a possible absolute majority and the formation of a monochrome government in a 577-seat National Assembly. According to Elabe’s research, the absolute majority consists of the 289 MPs.

The New Popular Front (NFP) has won the first round of the parliamentary elections in Euskal Herria, against the far right (RN), which came second, and also ahead of the presidential majority (Modem-Ensemble).
The victory of the far right in the European elections has set off alarm bells. And yesterday it was confirmed that the left-wing alliance, which includes EH Bai, has managed to stop the National Rally (RN) in the Basque regions in record time.
