Police officers in the Innviertel have been searching for a cyclist who disappeared after a serious accident for over a month. At that moment, another cyclist almost collided with the cyclist and was seriously injured in a fall. But it is not only the cyclist who has disappeared.
On Monday, May 20, 2024, at around 11:25 a.m., a 37-year-old from Braunau steered a bicycle along the Weilhart-Landesstraße 501 in the municipality of Hochburg over the so-called “Wanghausner Berg” towards Burghausen. In the Wanghausen district, at the height of the inn there, he wanted to turn left into a community street. To do this, he reduced his speed, gave clear hand signals and looked back in the middle of the road when merging to make sure that he could carry out this turning process correctly.
Concrete garden wall
As he turned, a faster-moving cyclist suddenly overtook him on the left, causing the two cyclists to collide. He lost control of his bike, hit a concrete garden wall and fell with his head on the road. The cyclist was able to avoid falling into the wall and may have continued on towards Salzburg.
First aid worker and emergency doctor
The 37-year-old driver involved in the accident was seriously injured. Two other cyclists, as well as the cyclist and an uninvolved couple, rushed to the 37-year-old’s aid. After receiving urgent medical care, he was taken to hospital. However, there has been no trace of the cyclist to date. Witnesses or first aid workers or the racing cyclist involved are therefore requested to contact the Hochburg-Ach police station on 059133/4201 100.
