Bang – First US Democrat calls on Biden to withdraw!

Date:

In the US, a first-term Democratic congressman has called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from his re-election campaign. “He should make the painful and difficult decision to retire,” Lloyd Doggett, a former congressman from Texas, said in a statement on Tuesday.

Doggett also referenced the 81-year-old’s performance in a televised interview with his predecessor and challenger Donald Trump, stressing that the fact that he publicly called on Biden to withdraw does not diminish his respect for the president’s accomplishments.

His request for the head of state to step down was also “respectful.” The 77-year-old Democrat has been a member of the House of Representatives for Texas since 1995.

Disastrous performance against Trump
Biden’s performance in last week’s televised debate raised concerns among Democrats about his age and led to calls for him to withdraw from the Nov. 5 presidential race. The 81-year-old has rejected the idea, and leading Democrats have rejected it as well.

Like his predecessor Trump (78), Biden hopes to win the presidential election in November. So far, there are many signs that point to a close race, but Biden’s critics see his disastrous performance in the first TV duel on Thursday evening (local time) as confirmation of their view that the Democrat is no longer fit for office and that it would be better to make way for a younger candidate.

Biden tries to limit the damage
The debate has quickly gained momentum, but Biden has so far defied such demands and is trying to limit the damage. Recently, however, his campaign has had to calm angry donors worried about the polls.
