More than 240 crimes: A youth gang was busy for months all over Vienna doing mischief. After intensive investigation, five of the teenagers were arrested and reported. The youngest suspect is only twelve years old.
Several young people between the ages of twelve and fifteen are said to be responsible for more than a hundred burglaries in various districts of Vienna between June 28 and July 1, 2024. The crime process was mostly similar. They gained access to the vehicles by breaking small windows and drove around the area in the stolen cars.
In total, the police assume that over 240 crimes have been committed by some 30 to 40 young people in recent months. The gang was recently active in the Leopoldstadt, Landstrasse, Brigittenau, Floridsdorf and Donaustadt districts.
The victim was able to recover the stolen car
As part of an intensive investigation, the officers were able to catch five young people (twelve to fifteen years old) red-handed in Donaustadt last Sunday. They had broken into a car on Panethgasse and then fled. Fortunately, the victim was able to locate the vehicle, so that the current location of the stolen car was continuously reported to the officers.
Investigations continue
The two suspects were taken to a prison shortly after. Further investigations are ongoing. A damage amount is not yet available.
