This has been stated by British journalist and writer John Carlin, who has described Starmer as a “bland and pragmatic” leader.
British journalist and writer from Catalonia John Carlin has described the winner of the British election, Keir Starmer, as a leader “bland and pragmatic.”
In an interview on Radio Euskadi, CarlIn said that in the elections last Thursday the “Britain is back to what it used to be: a centrist and moderate countryIn this sense, he stressed that the Labour Party, the absolute winner of the election, is a party “more centre than centre-left”, especially after Starmer decided “to put an end to the ‘podemita’ wing of the party”.
For this reason, among others, such as “I’ve had enough of fourteen years of Tory government‘, believes that the Labour Party has become an ‘attractive’ option for the British population, who are, in Carlin’s words, moderate.
“Starmer is the most boring leader Britain has had for many years. He is not a charismatic man, but he will act wisely,” Carlin predicted, believing that “we have a rapprochement with the EU“, not in the form of reintegration of the Union, but with “commercial ties” as a “pragmatic” measure.
On the Conservative Party debacle, he said the favourite to succeed Rishi Sunak is Kemi Badenochwho he has described as a “brilliant woman”, following the leadership of a “competent but lacking charisma” Sunak.
He also pointed out the loss of representation of the Scottish National Party’s independentswhich went from 48 to 10 representatives, in an election that was presented as a referendum on the possibility of holding a second referendum on independence in Scotland.
