Strong wind as trigger – 20-ton tree fell at primary school in Salzburg

Date:

A tree in the Parsch district of Salzburg caused a lot of noise early Monday morning. A 20-ton beech fell on the Parsch primary school building. The lesson was yet to begin. The difficult cleanup is in full swing.

The tree, which is about a meter in diameter, is believed to have fallen over due to the strong wind. On Monday around 4:30 am, it collided with the Parsch primary school, which admittedly had no children at the time.

Classes started as usual for the 230 students, only two rooms had to be closed. Six men from the professional fire brigade are currently cleaning up the scene. All trees in the area are also checked for stability. The timber construction office carries out an inspection of the school building.
