One room in a clubhouse burned down completely on Friday, others were damaged by soot and smoke. Now the police investigation showed: the fire was started!
At around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, a neighbor who lives above the club grounds noticed the smoke and immediately alerted the fire department. 30 men from the FF Feldkirchen, Waiern and Tschwarzen left. “Luckily, they were able to prevent the flames from spreading, because the fire was in the middle of the city, in the Heftgasse, and there are houses everywhere, some of which are directly adjacent to each other,” says mayor Martin Treffner.
One room in the women’s and girls’ counselling centre was completely gutted, others were damaged by soot and smoke. The material damage caused has not yet been quantified, but is described as significant.
Officials from the fire brigade team of the National Criminal Investigation Department and an expert appointed by the Public Prosecution Service have now been able to establish that the fire was started deliberately. A perpetrator has not yet been identified.
All relevant information for the police is requested.
