GPS signal as evidence – family’s despair: “Our cat has been kidnapped”

Date:

According to the owners, the GPS collar leaves no doubt about the fate of “Yara”: the family is certain that the Maine Coon cat has been kidnapped. They fear that the four-legged friend will now be sold on the Internet.

A GPS tracker on the neck of the beloved velvet paw is intended to ensure the pet’s precise location, thus providing a sense of security for owners of outdoor animals. For the family of “Yara,” a beautiful two-year-old Maine Coon cat, the signal had the exact opposite effect on Thursday morning.

Because they could see on their mobile phone that their four-legged friend suddenly ran at a speed of more than 50 km/h. “This is very unreal for a cat,” say Tatjana and Christian Sappert from the cadastral community Sieghartskirchen of Einsiedl in the district of Tulln. The two are certain: “She was ‘packed’ by unknown people not far from their home!”

Signal lost after five kilometers
They were able to virtually track “Yara” for about five kilometers before the GPS signal on the B 19 near Siegersdorf in the direction of Neulengbach failed. “That was the last time we were able to locate her, after which the tracker was switched off,” the Sappert family says.

The owners are now afraid that their pet will earn money and be sold on the internet. After all, purebred Maine Coon cats are worth just under 1000 euros. A report has been filed with the police. The Sapperts now hope that information about the whereabouts of the chipped cat will come in by calling 0664/4550-535. In addition, there is a finder’s fee of 1000 euros.

There has been no trace of “Baci” for over a week. The little Havanese panicked after fireworks in front of a tour boat and ran out of the garden into the Kritzendorf power pool near Klosterneuburg. Since then, he has been wandering around the Danube floodplains, where dog search teams keep discovering new tracks.

The family of ‘Baci’ still does not give up hope – and continues to ask for help in the search. On Wednesday, a golden blond Havanese was spotted at the Martinsfriedhof, and further tracks recently led to Unterkritzendorf, it is said. Information directly to the owners on 0676/7505154.
