Kidnapped in Graz, abducted to Slovenia and finally abandoned by the perpetrators in Klagenfurt – at least that is the version of the alleged victim.
Swollen nose, bloodstains on his face – this is how the Syrian reported in Carinthia was arrested by the alert police on Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a supermarket in Klagenfurt. And when he was checked in the search system, the alarm bells went off: the man (28) was considered missing – he had been reported missing by his wife 24 hours earlier.
The husband is said to have visited her four days earlier in Graz, where, according to his own statements, the alleged victim was knocked out by seven men with an electric shock in front of the woman’s door, put in the trunk of a BMW and taken to Slovenia. There, the gang then tied up the Syrian, beat him in a small room and forced him to call his father in Syria.
A ransom of $100,000 was demanded, which the father of the alleged victim could not possibly pay – whereupon the alleged kidnappers “leniently” decided to release their victim, who lived in Klagenfurt, and take him back to Carinthia.
Victims left behind at the border
Where the gang left him in the town of Zell, near the Slovenian border. The perpetrators also drove his car, which was confiscated in Klagenfurt in Carinthia (at least according to the Syrian’s statements), from Graz to the ‘place of torture’ and ‘friendly’ back to Klagenfurt.
A dubious kidnapping case, now on the table of the Styrian investigators because of the missing person report originally filed in Graz – and which rightly raises a number of questions: Why do the kidnappers have to take the victim’s car? And bring it, as well as the victim herself, back to Austria?
