Dangerous incident at Syracuse Airport in New York: Two planes came much too close to each other at dizzying heights – a video shows how close the machines flew past each other. The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation.
Police dashcam video from July 8 captured the incident in the air. As a Delta Connection plane took off, the American Eagle plane was about to land.
According to FlightRadar24, the vertical distance between the planes was approximately 214 to 305 meters. The horizontal distance is unknown.
Landing plane had to take off
“An air traffic controller instructed PSA Airlines 5511 (note: the American Eagle aircraft) to take off from Syracuse Hancock International Airport to maintain clearance from an aircraft taking off on the same runway,” the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said after the incident. The incident has not yet been classified as a “near miss.” An investigation has been launched.
