An unforeseen obstacle proved fatal for a cyclist (71) in Wattens on Wednesday. The man hit his head with full force against a wooden slat and was seriously injured. But why was the wooden slat in the way?
The accident happened around 9:00. The 71-year-old was cycling on the Bichlweg in Wattens. Suddenly an obstacle appeared in front of him that he could not have expected.
A wooden slat was in the way. A 67-year-old had just tied it to an embankment when the cyclist passed by. The 71-year-old hit his head on the obstacle and fell.
The injured man went home
The cyclist, probably in shock, walked home after the accident. His wife immediately alerted the rescue team. They brought the seriously injured man to the clinic in Innsbruck.
