The swimming expedition of two girls ended on Tuesday in Vorarlberg with a visit to the hospital – the two had fallen off the dike on a moped.
Two 16-year-old girls rode a moped to the Bregenzerach in Langenegg (Vorarlberg) to swim. When they arrived at the swimming spot, the driver parked her vehicle against a wall or an embankment.
When they wanted to leave the Bregenzerach again, the driver got on the moped and started the engine before her passenger sat down. Suddenly, the 16-year-old lost her balance while driving away and then lost control of the moped. She and her friend fell from a three-meter high embankment.
Both suffered injuries
The passenger was freed from her predicament by friends present and rescued from the stone bank. She was then taken to Dornbirn Hospital by her friends. Unfortunately, the driver was less fortunate; she had to receive first aid from the emergency doctor, who was alerted and eventually rescued by the local fire brigades of Müselbach and Lingenau. The teenager was taken to hospital in Bregenz with serious injuries.
