Good news from Salzburg Zoo. For the first time in eleven years, visitors can observe puma offspring. Three young animals keep their parents very busy.
Director Sabine Grebner is pleased with the first puma offspring in eleven years and emphasizes the long tradition of keeping pumas at the zoo. Pumas found a home at Hellbrunner Berg as early as the 1960s.
The three-year-old parents are having children for the first time, which also brings challenges. Curator Lisa Sernow is relieved that mother Amaira takes exemplary care of her young animals and that they develop well. Father Inigo also plays an important role in their upbringing and is a good-natured playmate.
The parents, who have been living in the zoo for two years, form a relaxed team. Amaira likes to retreat with her young animals to the cave in the upper part of the complex. Visitors can enthusiastically discover the clumsy young animals.
