The storm also caused injuries in Styria on Friday afternoon: in Voitsberg a firefighter was hit by a tree during cleaning work and seriously injured. In Zeltweg a tree collided with the car of a young driver.
The 27-year-old firefighter was – as one of hundreds of volunteers across the country – busy clearing the Kremser Rows near Voitsberg. According to information from the Red Cross, a tree fell near the sewage treatment plant (towards Voitsberg) and hit the Styria. He suffered serious injuries.
His comrades and paramedics from the fire brigade immediately provided first aid and called the rescue team. Within a short time, the emergency doctor, two ambulances and the command vehicle arrived at the scene of the accident. Fortunately, the 27-year-old responded and was able to be taken to the LKH University Hospital.

The storm claimed more victims: in the Farrach district on Zeltweg, a young driver was surprised by the storm. A tree fell on her car and she suffered unknown injuries. She was freed from the vehicle by the Farrach fire department and handed over to the emergency services.
It is feared that the strong gusts of wind could have injured other people in Styria.
