A micronap proved fatal for a 20-year-old Dane on the Tyrolean Inntal motorway near Stams (Imst district) on Sunday morning: the man went over the road and crashed into the guardrail. Miraculously, the driver and his girlfriend (18) were only slightly injured.
The serious accident happened shortly before 6:00 am on the A12. The Dane was driving his car eastbound when he said he had fallen asleep for a moment. “The car went over the hard shoulder and hit the crash barrier before the accident vehicle came to a stop after about 100 meters, partly in the first lane and partly on the hard shoulder,” the police said.

The 20-year-old and his 18-year-old friend, who were in the passenger seat, were slightly injured in the collision. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the two injured people were taken by ambulance to the clinic in Innsbruck. “The accident vehicle was a total loss,” the director emphasizes.
