A 34-year-old has been charged with two counts of murder after body parts were found in England. According to the Metropolitan Police, the victims were two men, aged 62 and 71. They were previously a couple.
The 34-year-old suspected killer is said to have known the pair and even lived with them for a time. The crime has been provisionally classified as a hate crime. “I know this horrific incident will cause concern not only for the residents of Shepherd’s Bush, but also for the wider LGBTQ+ community in London,” said a senior investigator. The English abbreviation LGBTQI+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex people.
Men lived together
As reported, two suitcases containing body parts were discovered last week near a well-known suspension bridge in the western English city of Bristol. Other human remains were found shortly afterwards in an apartment in the Shepherd’s Bush area of London, which the two victims are believed to have shared. One of the murdered men was from France.
The suspect was arrested this weekend. He is said to have taken the suitcases with the body parts to the bridge by taxi, but probably did not throw them in the river and eventually left them behind. Passers-by spoke to him and the man fled. After a search lasting several days, the 34-year-old was finally arrested.
