After Sunday’s incident, another violent confrontation took place on Yppenplatz in Vienna on Monday evening. This time, a 39-year-old man punched a 15-year-old in the face. Shortly afterwards, the teenager attacked the older man with a Stanley knife at the same location.
On Monday evening at 22:00, a quarrel broke out on Yppenplatz in Vienna-Ottakring between a 15-year-old Afghan and a 39-year-old man, whose origins are unknown. The older man punched the younger man in the face with his fist. The police were called and filed a report. Due to the facial injuries, a rescue operation was not necessary.
A short time later, officers were called back to the same location. The previously attacked teenager wanted to take revenge on the older man, attacked him with a Stanley knife and fled.
Cuts to the face
The elderly man suffered cuts to his face from the attack. Medical attention from professional rescuers was necessary. However, the teenager did not want to go to the hospital for further treatment.
The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department is now investigating suspicions of intentional infliction of serious bodily harm. Both suspects are still to be questioned.
First investigation among the victims of the shooting at Yppenplatz
The two victims of the shooting on the Yppenplatz on Sunday evening have now been questioned (see video above). An 18-year-old Syrian and a 22-year-old without nationality were injured in this clash.
The first interview raises suspicions that it was a dispute within the drug community.
