Last week, an 86-year-old woman from Styria had to experience every homeowner’s nightmare in her home near Gleisdorf: the elderly woman was woken up by burglars during the night and robbed. The perpetrators made off with a small amount of money and the 86-year-old was slightly injured.
Last week, a burglary took place in Hofstätten an der Raab (Weiz district), the police now report.
At around 11:15 p.m., an 86-year-old woman was woken up in her home by two masked burglars. “We believe the perpetrators entered through a window,” state police said. The men dragged the elderly woman into the kitchen and demanded cash. According to the victim, the perpetrators, who were wearing a balaclava-like mask, spoke with a foreign accent.

One of the perpetrators searched the entire house. When he was done, the burglars locked the woman in the kitchen and fled.
The woman was able to climb out of the kitchen window herself and sought help from the neighbors. When the police arrived, the perpetrators had already left the forest. They stole a small amount of money. The 86-year-old was slightly injured and suffered bruises and abrasions on her arms.
Because the perpetrators were masked and the victim could not provide any further information, there is no concrete description of the perpetrators.
