Dozens of people were injured in a serious bus crash in Spain. The bus crashed into a tunnel entrance on the highway between Barcelona and Tordera in the northeast of the country on Tuesday morning.
Footage shared online showed the bus hanging diagonally from the ceiling of the tunnel entrance. Rescue workers reported via X (formerly Twitter) that a total of 52 people received medical care.
Three seriously injured people were taken to hospital by helicopter, and five others were also taken to hospital.
Accident caused by a blowout?
According to the newspaper “La Vanguardia”, the bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle due to a burst tire, which then began to swerve and was thrown into the air by a safety barrier on the side of the road.
On board the bus were employees of the textile company Inditex, owner of brands such as Zara, Bershka and Massimo Dutti, en route to an Inditex factory in the Catalan city of Tordera.
