According to Wiener Linien, passengers are partly responsible for warm public transport

Date:

The transport companies are now receiving a lot of criticism for their information about conditioned public transport – people are the fuel. But the problems with public transport remain.

Why is it so hot on public transport? It is not only the passengers who ask themselves this question, but also the Wiener Linien itself, on Instagram, tries to explain the causes of the oven bombers on the rails. As for reason 2, very few Viennese could keep a cool head – because they themselves are sometimes the ones who cause tropical temperatures. Because: “Every passenger is a source of heat.” The more of them (for example due to narrow intervals on the U4), the more the air conditioning has to do.

Then things got heated on social media. One comment: “Of course, now the passengers’ bodies are to blame as a heat source!” In other countries (Singapore, Rome) air conditioning would also work.

Meanwhile, there are more public transport problems for the Viennese: from 5 August to 24 November, the U1 towards Leopoldau will not stop at Kagran station. Bim line 26 will be shortened from 5 to 18 August. The replacement bus 26E will run on the road between Kagraner Platz and Hausfeldstraße. Reason: switch works for the new tram line 27.
