A police officer was killed and another wounded in a gunfight on the Serbian-Bosnian border on Thursday evening. The suspected perpetrator is on the run.
The perpetrator is believed to be a 33-year-old Kosovo Albanian. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the Lipnicki Sor border control. A taxi with Serbian license plates stopped in the small town of Loznica.
Suddenly a man got out of the car, pulled out a gun and shot at the police. A Serbian policeman was killed and his colleague was wounded. The attacker fled, but the taxi driver was arrested. A passport was found at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing and the search is underway for the fleeing attacker.
