On Thursday afternoon, a fire broke out in a workshop in Rottenmann, Upper Styria. Three men between the ages of 27 and 46 managed to escape outside, but were injured by the flames and smoke.
Dangerous scenes unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday in a small workshop in a garage in Rottenmann: When gasoline was pumped out of the tank of a parked car, the fumes were probably ignited by sparks.
The fire immediately spread through the workshop where three men were currently staying. Four vehicles immediately caught fire. According to the police, the men (aged 27, 41 and 46) had difficulty escaping from the garage. They suffered injuries of unknown magnitude from flash fires and smoke fumes. Two of them were taken to hospital.
Four fire brigades with about 50 men fought the flames. The damage cannot yet be quantified.
