Tyrol also affected – IT chaos: control center and hospital in emergency operation

Date:

Huge IT problems caused chaos worldwide on Friday. International air traffic in particular, but also banks and the media reported disruptions. There are problems here too. The Tyrol control centre and the Kufstein district hospital were initially affected.

“Due to a system failure, ambulance services in Tyrol can currently only be provided to a very limited extent. The ambulance hotline 14844 is also not reachable. Emergency calls are not affected by the failure,” the Tyrolean control center said on its social media channels on Friday morning.

“Limited patient care”
The Kufstein District Hospital also reported an IT outage on Friday morning. “This outage affects both administrative and medical equipment, limiting patient care. Despite the current challenge, the district hospital assures that the instruments and devices needed for survival continue to function properly,” the hospital’s website states.

Other hospitals are expanding their offerings
The population was asked to contact the neighboring hospitals in St. Johann and Schwaz in case of outpatient emergencies. “We are working at full speed with the neighboring hospitals, which are preparing to increase capacity,” explains Dr. Schöner, administrative director of the Kufstein Hospital.

The district hospital Kufstein may only be visited in extreme emergencies. Long waiting times are to be expected.

Innsbruck Airport reports no disruptions
Unlike Vienna-Schwechat Airport or other international airports, Innsbruck Airport has so far remained unscathed. “There are no disruptions. Flight operations are in full swing,” said press spokeswoman Nicole Kehle during lunch when asked by “Krone”.

At the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) everything was on schedule and therefore fine on Friday. No problems were reported in Tyrol.
