The adventure in an amusement park for an eight-year-old boy on holiday in the Tyrolean lowlands ended fatally: the child sustained such serious injuries while jumping that he had to be flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
The devastating incident took place early Friday afternoon in Alpbach in the Kufstein district. According to the police, the eight-year-old boy from the Netherlands was visiting the amusement park with his parents.
Accident on diving platform
“The student jumped multiple times from a base jumping tower from a height of 3 meters onto the air-filled mats below,” investigators said. Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the boy jumped again — and this time the jump ended fatally.
By helicopter to the hospital
The child landed so badly on the mat that he sustained serious leg injuries. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the boy was flown to Kufstein Hospital by emergency helicopter.
