Musk publicly makes a terrible offer to Swift

In a bizarre post on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla and SpaceX CEO suggested “giving” Swift a child.

“I will give you a child”
“Okay, Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and protect your cats with my life,” Musk, who has at least 12 children with three women, said smugly to the singer.

Swift previously announced her political support on Instagram, signing off with the words, “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady,” a reference to Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance. In a 2021 interview, the father of three prominent Democratic politicians referred to them as “childless cat ladies” and directly attacked Kamala Harris, who has no biological children. In response to her call, Swift posted a photo of herself with a cat.

Swift for “talented leader” Harris
Swift plans to vote for Democrat Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential election for a number of reasons. Harris is a “talented leader” and stands up for rights and causes that require a “warrior,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday night that was published shortly after the vice president’s televised debate with former President Donald Trump Post ended. “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the presidential election,” Swift said.

“Fight disinformation with the truth”
“We can accomplish so much more in this country if we move toward calm and not chaos,” Swift said, echoing one of Harris’ main lines of attack against former President Trump. She justified her revelation by saying that Trump had recently posted a fake AI-generated endorsement of hers on his page. “This has led me to the conclusion that I need to be completely transparent about my actual plans as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

“I did my research and I made my choice,” the singer stressed. She said she was “impressed” that Harris chose Walz as her replacement, a decades-long campaigner for LGBT rights, the right to artificial insemination and women’s right to abortion. Swift encouraged her followers to research the candidates and their platforms and make their own choices. She urged new voters to register for the election and not to ignore the applicable deadlines.

Walz is happy with the support
Walz was pleased with the support. “I am grateful to Taylor Swift, and I say that as a cat owner,” the Minnesota governor said Tuesday night on MSNBC. Swift’s message “was eloquent and clear. This is the courage we need in America.”

Swift’s campaign call comes as no surprise, as Swift has supported Democrats in the past. Harris’ support was expected after she posted a photo to her Instagram account a few weeks ago showing a silhouette of a woman resembling the vice president.

“Huge appeal” and 283 million followers
Swift’s Instagram account has 283 million followers, which is almost the entire population of the United States. According to American campaign expert Yussi Pick, Swift’s election advice could be the deciding factor in the expected close race.

Swift has “huge appeal to audiences that traditional media can’t reach,” Pick said in an APA interview earlier this year. “If it’s just 40,000 votes, that makes a difference,” he said, referring to Republican Trump’s narrow victory in the 2016 election.

Swift’s previous voter registration calls, for example, have each led to a “spike” in registrations, Pick points out. The singer got her start in (rather conservative) country music and is popular among Democrats and Republicans alike. While it may not sway hardcore Trump supporters, it may sway those disaffected by politics.
