Last year, 15,115 entry and approach bans were issued across Austria. Most of these were located in the federal capital Vienna. Last year there were a total of 4,272 entry bans.
The other figures per state vary between 1.2 and 1.7 entry bans per 1000 inhabitants. Vorarlberg and Tyrol are at the back, each with a value of 1.2. At the front are Styria (1.4), Salzburg (1.5), Burgenland (1.5), Carinthia (1.6), Lower Austria (1.6) and Upper Austria with 1.7 entry bans.
If we look at the absolute figures, the statistics roughly correspond to the ranking of the nine states by population. Lower Austria with 2,784 entry bans is behind the federal capital, followed by Upper Austria with 2,656 expulsions. Behind it are Styria (1715), Tyrol (946), Carinthia (933), Salzburg (850), Vorarlberg (503) and Burgenland (456).
Willingness to display “high”.
The number of entry and approach bans has continuously increased throughout Austria since 2020: the Federal Criminal Police Force Protection Report shows 11,652 measures for the first Corona year, and in 2021 the number increased to 13,690, reaching 14,643 expulsions in 2022. The Ministry of the Interior Speaking about this trend, the figures showed that the willingness to report was ‘high’.
