37 dead in Israeli bombardment of Gaza in 24 hours, including a journalist and his family

Date:

With Mohamed Abu Jasser, 161 journalists have been killed since October 7. The total number of dead now stands at almost 39,000. A baby has been rescued alive from the womb of his mother, who was killed in an Israeli bombing last Saturday.

At least 37 people have been murdered in Loop in the past 24 hours in Israeli strikes, while another 54 were wounded, according to the latest bulletin from the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health, which put the number deaths at 38,919 since the start of the major offensive against Gaza, the majority of whom are women and children.

In addition, there are 89,622 wounded, all without counting the approximately 10,000 bodies left in the rubble without ambulances or rescue teams being able to access them.

The Gaza government has reported that the journalist Mohamed Abu Jasser has been murdered last night with his wife and two children during an Israeli bombardment of his home in the town of Jabalia, north of the Strip. According to the authorities, 161 journalists have been killed by Israel since October 7 with Jasser.

Throughout this morning, Israeli attacks continued in the Gaza Strip, especially in the north, where the army is conducting an intense offensive in Gaza City, trying to neutralize the militants who Israel says have regrouped in the area after the Gaza invasion in the south.

“The occupation aircraft also bombed the home of the Al Sabbagh family in the Al Zarqa area, north of Gaza City, killing two civilians and wounding others,” the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

The new day of violence in this Palestinian territory comes as Israel and Hamas remain locked in ceasefire negotiations that would allow the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, which are taking place in Cairo and Doha.

It also arrives a day after the international Court of Justice issued an opinion stating “illegal” settlements and Israel’s ‘Continued Presence’ in the Palestinian Territories (including the Gaza Strip) and demanded an end to the occupation “as soon as possible”.

Be before birth

Last Saturday, health workers at Al Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, in the center of the Gaza Strip, managed to save the baby of a woman killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The body of the mother, six months pregnant, arrived at the hospital early Saturday after an Israeli bombardment of her home. She was immediately transferred to an operating room, where staff performed a caesarean section and managed to extract the baby alive, who was already placed in an incubator and is stable at this health center, the only one with an obstetrics and gynecology service in the hospital.
