There was a wild fight at an outdoor pool in Berlin. Two brothers clashed with a group of twenty youths and were injured. The police started an investigation and the pool was closed early.
As police announced on Sunday, the two brothers, aged 14 and 15, were injured in the face by punches. The members of the other group fled before emergency services arrived and police began an investigation.
According to investigators, the two brothers initially fled to the outdoor area of an indoor and outdoor swimming pool in Berlin’s Gropiusstadt after the incident, but were found nearby by emergency services.
Medical assistance refused
They refused medical treatment after consulting their legal guardians by phone. According to police, the pool was closed earlier due to the incident and high occupancy.
Debate about mobile police stations in outdoor pools
Violent clashes between sometimes larger groups in outdoor pools have been making headlines in the German capital for years and sparking national political debates. Last year, for example, the Berlin Senate announced the establishment of mobile police stations in outdoor pools in response to repeated riots. Even Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke out at the time, calling for more police presence in the pools.
