A cyclist left a cycle path in Vorarlberg on Saturday, crashed into a tree and then fell into the riverbed of the Ill. All help came too late for him.
The 43-year-old e-biker died on Saturday evening in Gaschurn (Bludenz district) after falling into the sick. According to a witness, the man had previously left the cycle path for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree. The witness called the emergency services, but lost eye contact with the accident victim, who was floating motionless in the water. After the lock of the hydroelectric power station had been closed by the emergency services, the 43-year-old was discovered lying in the riverbed at around 11:50 p.m.
All help came too late, the water rescue team could only recover the body of the cyclist. Numerous emergency services from the fire brigade, mountain rescue, water rescue and police were on site.
