On Monday around 2 p.m., everything happened very quickly. As reported, a man stormed into the Swarovski store on Taubenmarkt in Linz, knocked over a display case and grabbed his loot. But the escape ended after just a few minutes. The perpetrator, a 41-year-old Czech, was arrested.
It was a failed attempt on several levels. Because the display case that the Czech knocked over with brutal force on Monday around 2 p.m. was actually open – he only had to intervene.
13 watches captured
The floor of the company building in a prime location in Linz was strewn with broken glass. The Czech grabbed thirteen watches and four bracelets worth around 5,000 euros and ran away.
The two saleswomen reacted perfectly, fled into a room, closed the door and called the police. They were quickly on the scene and arrested the man just a few meters from the crime scene.
Just out of prison
The 41-year-old Czech confessed immediately after his arrest. He also said that he had only been in Linz for a short time. He had previously been in Germany, where he had been imprisoned for various property crimes.
